We are recruiting!

Can you help?   Volunteer with us!   #weneedyou!

Our time is precious. We want to be available to help as many people as we can when they are in need. To help us achieve that, we are looking for volunteers to fill specific vacancies for tasks which will free up our time. Some roles can be carried out remotely, others are in readiness for reopening The Centre when it is safe to do so.

Our current vacancies are:

If you, or someone you know, has the skills and knowledge to fulfil any of these roles (or would like to volunteer in a different role) and shares our passion to help those affected by cancer, please do get in touch or share the details with friends.

Alternatively, please complete the application form and return to Azra.

Help us spread the word that we’re recruiting.

The Centre is run by a Centre Management Team including a Centre Manager and an Operations Coordinator, supported by a team of volunteers.

If you are an experienced counsellor or therapist and would be willing to volunteer your services at the Centre, we would be very interested to hear from you. Please email Azra if you would like to discuss this further.

We are always happy to hear from anyone wishing to volunteer their time. Please email Azra for more details.

During this time of the pandemic, your donations and fundraising efforts are ever more important.

With The Centre being closed, we have lost all our usual income which helps to keep us afloat, but we are still working hard from home to provide support where it is needed.

We need donations to help us sustain our current support and a successful reopening.

There are several ways you can help:

  • the simplest way to raise a few pounds for us at no cost to yourself, is to sign up to easyfundraising. Every time you shop online through easyfundraising, shops and sites will donate to us for free. There are hundreds of retailers from Amazon to John Lewis to Ebay, each one gives a small percentage of the total you have spent to The Centre. It’s completely FREE  to sign up and doesn’t take long. Please encourage friends and family to sign up too.

  • It’s easy to make an online donation here. Perhaps consider donating the amount you usually would for your cuppa at the Centre, or the amount you would usually donate for your therapy session. Our therapists are donating their time to provide self help videos and free telephone consultations in some cases. Every pound really does help.

  • How about undertaking a small amount of fundraising yourself? Ideas include a sponsored silence, a sponsored walk of laps of your garden, or how many weeds you can pull up in an hour. Or perhaps hold a virtual tea party with each guest paying a pound to join in.

Thank you all. Your help means so much to everyone using our services.

Don’t forget we are here for you if you need us.

At Cambridge Cancer Help Centre we receive no public funding and rely entirely on donations to carry on our work of providing practical and emotional support to those who come to the Centre.

We are immensely grateful to all our supporters, both individuals and organisations. Your generous gifts of time and money make it possible for us to help many people, often over long periods. Our thanks to you all.

As one of our members said:

I arrived at CCHC, anxious and fearful, to be welcomed with kindness and wonderful healing. The Centre became my haven and still is.”

If you would like to make a financial donation, please visit our donations page.

Since we rely entirely on donations to enable us to continue to provide the services we offer, fundraising is always an important, ongoing challenge.

And whether the funds come from the sale of donated items, from gifts, from legacies, from personal fundraising activities, from sponsorship of major events organised on our behalf or from organisations who have adopted us as their “charity of the year”, we are and remain hugely grateful for your generosity and support. Be assured that every pound raised makes a difference.

If you would like to help us raise funds for the work of the Centre, please contact our Management team or give us a call on 01223 840105.

Thank you!
