Time & Space Workshop

The next Time & Space Carers’ Workshop will take place at the Centre on Monday 24th April 2017 from 10:30am to 1:30pm.

TIME & SPACE is a self-management workshop for people who care for someone living with and beyond cancer.

It is a three-hour workshop based on the full six-week HOPE FOR CARERS programme and has been created for carers who are unable to commit the time to attend the longer course.

The purpose of the workshop is to create a safe environment in which those who care for someone living with and beyond cancer have time both to reflect and to develop self-management techniques which will enable them to meet more effectively the emotional, physical and lifestyle changes and challenges they face.

This workshop will enable you to access and experience the support of others.

TIME & SPACE is delivered by experienced and accredited HOPE facilitators and may be available either as a three hour workshop or as two shorter sessions on separate days.

If you are interested, please contact Janet Hickman on 07866 331782 / janet.hickman14@icloud.com.

Macmillan HOPE Course

The next Macmillan HOPE Course starts on Tuesday 11th April, 2017 at the Centre.

The course is made up of six consecutive weekly sessions each lasting two and a half hours from 12:30 to 3pm. The final session will be on Tuesday 16th May.

Anyone who has had a diagnosis of cancer or is a carer of someone who has had a diagnosis is welcome to attend the HOPE programme.

We have a dietician visiting one of the sessions to give advice to the participants.

Along with the Expert Patients Programme and Macmillan Take Control workshop, this self-management programme will help you to develop confidence in the daily management of your condition or in supporting those for whom you care and you will meet others who have shared similar experiences. All the courses cover serious issues but there is also lots of laughter at the appropriate times!

If you are interested, please contact Janet Hickman on 07866 331782 / janet.hickman14@icloud.com.

Testimonials

We have had many members of the Centre attend this course. Here is what one person said about it:

‘The course helped boost my confidence. I learned that my input, be it big or small, was of value to the group. We all supported each other throughout, sharing tears of sadness, tears of joy, times of seriousness and times of laughter. I’d recommend it to anyone.’

And here’s a testimonial from a member who attended a recent course:
