- We aim to support people who have or have had cancer and their carers.
- We aim to provide a meeting place with a warm, friendly environment in which people with cancer, their families, friends and carers can meet each other, discover that they are not alone and give one another mutual support.
- We aim to provide understanding and a listening ear, and access to qualified counsellors if required.
- We aim to provide a range of complementary therapies to help sustain and restore balance whilst simultaneously calming and lifting the spirits. We do not claim that these therapies will cure people, but we do believe that our self-help, holistic approach encourages the 'fighting spirit' that is so important in stimulating the body's own inner capacity to heal and in combating the disease. Some of the benefits may include containment of pain, reduction of feelings of anxiety and isolation, restoration of self-confidence, and changes in lifestyle designed to strengthen the immune system.
- We aim to give access to information about cancer and its treatment. We endeavour to do this through a well-stocked library, video and audio tapes, pamphlets and press-cuttings, and by putting people in touch with others who have a similar cancer or who are in a similar situation.
- We aim to forge and maintain good relations with the medical and associated professions.
The Cambridge Cancer Help Centre is committed to making its services available to all those affected by cancer, and their carers, regardless of their gender, race, nationality, class, religion, sexuality, age or mental and physical ability.
